Born and raised here, Melanie Adkins is a product and parent of LSR7 schools, a small business owner, and longtime community advocate - running for City Council in District 3 — focused on building a city that works for everyone.
Lee’s Summit is going through new growth because we planned for it together. In 2020, residents helped shape their most recent long term strategy, the IGNITE Strategic Plan, to support strong schools, safe neighborhoods, and a high quality of life.
Most importantly, they made sure to plan for balanced growth that kept housing, commercial and retail at a balanced pace - because that's what powers sustainability.
Now that those plans are being implemented, some people are surprised to see developments. But I'm running to keep us on track, improve communication, and make sure residents understand how these changes strengthen our future — not threaten it.
This city helped raise my family — and now I’m stepping up to help lead it. I believe in listening, planning, and prioritizing transparency with citizens.
As your District 3 Council Member, I’ll bring steady, informed leadership focused on communication, safety, and smart growth.
As a Council Member for District 3, Melanie will continue to be a passionate community advocate, while prioritizing communication, public safety, and smart economic growth.
Prioritize clear communication. Demand informed decisions.

Every conversation, every volunteer shift, and each donation helps move our city forward.
Your support makes a real impact in building a safer, stronger, smarter Lee’s Summit. Whether you can give a few hours or a few dollars, every contribution truly makes an impact.
